 Karate Program

Besides enjoying the health benefits of karate such as increased coordination, balance, and flexibility, children also learn valuable life skills such as discipline, focus, and self-control. The development of these life skills helps children:

  • Recognize the importance of making good decisions
  • Solve problems
  • Build self-confidence
  • Work in teams
  • Develop patience
  • Set and accomplish goals

Children also work their way through the belt ranking system (white, red, yellow, orange, green, blue, purple, brown, black).

At the end of each Shotokan training session, which is the style of karate taught at WTMA, the children recite The Dojo Kun.

“Seek perfection of character.
Be faithful.
Endeavor.
Respect others.
Refrain from violent behavior.”

The Dojo Kun serves as a set of five guiding principles, intended to frame the practice within an ethical context.

We believe that these five guiding principles prepare children to lead happy, successful lives. Osu!
